Here are just some of the Pasture seed variations we are using. QUANTUM ORCHARDGRASS QUANTUM Orchardgrass is a late-maturing cultivar developed to produce high quality forage as either a monoculture or mixed grass/legume stand. Its prolific deep rooting makes it very drought resistant. Coupled with good winter hardiness, it is an excellent choice for the transition zones. QUANTUM is a very persistent variety. Characteristics- Late maturing * Very palatable * Very persistent * High yielding QUANTUM Orchardgrass is only one of the new varieties to be used by Virginia Pastures. There will be more new Orchard grass varieties in the near future. We have been following the forage trials at the Cascade International Seed Company research farm in Aumsville, Oregon and have selected several promising varieties of orchardgrass, endophyte-free tall fescues, perennial ryegrass and bromegrass for future consideration. STAG & TETON ENDOPHYTE-FREE TALL FESCUES STAG & TETON tall fescues are now being phased into Virginia Pastures' tall fescue mixes. These higher performing endophyte-free tall fescues will eventually replace RICHMOND tall fescue. RICHMOND has been such a strong performer for our pastures over the last six years and now we can expect even better hardiness from the newer varieties. These plants are deep rooted and are quick to establish when sown into warm soil with good fertility. Virginia Pastures can deliver one of our seed mixes to you or expertly plant seed with our no-till slice seeder if you like. If your pastures have specific needs, or you have a specific seed mix in mind we will Custom Blend seed for you.
